Klas Horn | Gunboat | Klas Kristersson Horn was a Swedish admiral of Finnish origin. He was born around 1518 in Åminne. During the 7-years war between Denmark and Sweden 1563-1570, he won a decisive victory over Danish fleet 7th July 1565 and 26. July 1566 he won a combibed Danish-lübeck fleet near Öland. He died 9th September the same year. | |
Matti Kurki | Gunboat | Matti Kurki (Matts Kurck) is the first known Finnish hero from end of 13th century. He was a tribal leader in Satakunta. One day he had a duel with a giant from Novgorod named Pohto. Pohto wounded Matti Kurki's leg and then mocked that "You jump like a stork". Pohto slashed also Matti Kurki's right arm (or more likely some fingers), but Matti Kurki beheaded then Pohto.
